Leonard E. Bryant, Adair County, KY (1921-2012)

He was a highly respected citizen and the patriarch of a great Adair County, KY family. His marriage to the Nellie Pearl Roberts Bryant endured an especially noteworthy 72 years. He leaves 79 direct living descendants. was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and was a saw mill operator for many years

Leonard E. Bryant, age 91 years of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 4:45 pmCT, at the Summit Manor Health and Rehab Center in Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1pmCT/2pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery, 131 New Hope Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET, Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at the funeral home.



Leonard E. Bryant, Adair County, KY (1921-2012)

He was born in Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana on Wednesday, October 26, 1921. He was the son of the late Cescil and Elizabeth Cravens Bryant. He died Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Columbia, Adair County, KY at the age of 91 years, 1 months, and 27 days..

He is survived by his wife of 72 years: Nellie Pearl Roberts Bryant of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Four daughters: Glenda Bryant of Russell Springs, KY; Sharon Bryant of Casa Grande, Arizona; Beverly Teramoto and husband: Roy of Phoenix, Arizona, Deborah Bryant-Hudson of Casa Grande, Arizona.

  • Six sons: Clifton Bryant and wife; Velma of Morgantown, Indiana; Travis Bryant and wife; Elaine of Columbia, KY; Bennie Bryant and wife; Dora of Campbellsville, KY; Merriel Bryant and wife; Gaysorn of Indianapolis, IN; Michael Bryant and wife; Monica of Yuma, Arizona; Danny Bryant and wife; Susan of Yuma, Arizona

  • Twenty-three grandchildren

  • Forty-two great grandchildren

  • Four great great grandchildren

  • One brother: Earnest Edward Bryant and wife: Shirley of Columbia, KY
He was preceded in death by one infant son, Leonard Bryant Jr. and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Bryant was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and was a saw mill operator for many years.
