Bernice G. (Bea) Phillips, Taylor Co., KY (1922-2012)

She was native of Taylor County, KY, and the matriarch of a large, highly regarded family. Her marriage to Lester G. Phillips endured over 42 years, until separated by his death in 1989. She leaves 19 direct living descendants. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lebanon. She was a retired Registered Nurse, family planning executive and educator, having worked at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Lebanon, KY; Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY; and Lincoln Trail District Health Department in Elizabethtown, KY

Bernice "Bea" G. Phillips, 90, of Clarksville, Indiana, formerly of Lebanon and Campbellsville, KY, died at 7:28amET, Monday, December 18, 2012, in Clarksville, IN.

Funeral services will be at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Griffin Phillips. Burial will be in the Harding Cemetery. Visitation is after 9amCT/10amET, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Chip Crawford, Ben Good, Steve Hamilton, John Phillips, Corey Thomas and Curt Thomas.

Bernice "Bea" G. Phillips, Taylor Co., KY native (1922-2012)

Bernice "Bea" G. Phillips was the daughter of the late Henry Griffin and Kizzie Campbell Griffin. She was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, Friday, September 15, 1922. She died at Monday, December 18, 2012, in Clarksville, Clark County, Indiana, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 3 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lebanon.

She was a retired Registered Nurse, family planning executive and educator, having worked at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Lebanon, Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville and Lincoln Trail District Health Department in Elizabethtown.

She united in marriage to Lester A. Phillips July 5, 1947. He preceded her in death December 20, 1989.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters and one son: Terri Crawford and husband, Mac of Lexington, KY; Leslie Thomas and husband, Larry of Greenville, IN; Barbie Fiske-Phillips and husband, Loring of Redlands, California; and Hank Phillips and wife, Leslie of Lexington, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Six great-grandchildren

  • And many other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by two sisters Doris Harding Griffin in infancy and Barbara Griffin.
