Glen (Big Boy) Napier, Kings Mountain, KY (1929-2012)

Big Boy, as he was referred to by most, was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church. He was the patriarch of a highly regarded family, centered around the Kings Mountain area of Casey and Lincoln Counties, KY. He leaves 16 direct living descendants

Glen "Big Boy" Napier, of Kings Mountain, KY, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012, at his residence. He was 83.

Funeral services will be at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Saturday, December 15, 2012, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Kevin Pittman and Bro. Wayne Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in KP Hall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Friday, December 14. 2012, at the funeral home.

Born Sunday, June 30, 1929, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Owen and Ethel Martin Napier. He died Monday, December 10, 2012, in Kings Mountain, KY, at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

Big Boy, as he was referred to by most, was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of Grove Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son: Ronald (Kathy) Napier of Kings Mountain, KY

  • Three daughters: Brenda (Jerome) Cummins of Middleburg, KY; Retha (Dale) Atwood of Kings Mountain, KY; and Lisa (Tim) Childers of Kings Mountain, KY

  • Sisters: Edith Snow, Faye Rowland, and Shirley Gooch, all of Kings Mountain, KY; and Darlene Greer of Middleburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Jessica Carpenter, Amy Wood, Amanda Napier, Jantzen Denny, Macy Childers, and Eli Childers

  • Six great-grandchildren

  • And special caregivers, Connie, Mike, and Makayla Walls of Yosemite. KY
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Clark Napier; son, Harold Dean Napier; brother, Orville Napier; and sister, Naomi Austin.
