She was the matriarch of a large, respected, Cumberland County family. She leaves her husband, Howard Sells, and many descendants to mourn her passing

Martha Mae Scott Sells, age 80, of Bow, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in the Christian Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT, on Thursday, November 1, 2012 until the service time on Friday.



Martha Mae Scott Sells, Bow, KY (1932-2012)


She was born in the Sulphur Creek Community on Monday, July 18, 1932. She was the daughter of Cecil Gidlow and Opal Williams Scott. She died Monday, October 29, 2012, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

She was a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ, a Teachers Assistant in the Cumberland County School System, a member of Hegira Homemakers and Clinton County Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Ambrose Scott and her twin brother and sister, Cecil Ray Scott and Orpha Gay Scott.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Sells of Burkesville, Kentucky, and the following:
  • Her children: Vicki Sells of Sewanee, TN' and Lynn Lee of Jamestown, TN

  • Her grandchildren: Elyas Bakhtiari, Mariam Bakhtiari, Krystal Scott and Brittany Rose

  • Her step grandchildren: Kendall Lee and Adam Lee

  • Her great grandchildren: Seth Rose and Ethan Scott

  • Her step great grandson: James Lee
