SSG (Ret.) Cliff Parke, Campbellsville, KY (1954-2012)

He was a native of Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. He served his country honorably in the United States Army for over twenty-one years primarily as a Telecommunications Specialist and Recruiter. He retired as a staff sergeant and was awarded many medals and citations including: Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), Driver and Mechanic Badge, US Army Gold Recruiter Badge with three Sapphire Achievement Stars, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, M-16 Rifle and M-9MM Pistol. He will receive full military honors at interment ceremonies at Mill Springs National Cemetery

He served during the Vietnam Era and Desert Storm Era SSG (Ret.) Cliff Parke of Campbellsville, son of James Shelby Parke and Runell Boston Parke, was born in Sulphur Well, Kentucky, July 8, 1954. He died at 6:20 P.M., Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 3pmET/2pmCT,, Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY. Burial will be at 12:30pmET/11:30amCT, Monday, November 5, at the Mill Springs National Cemetery, 9044 W. Highway 80, Nancy, KY. with full military honors.Visitation is 11am-3pmET/10am-2pmCT, Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, KY.



SSG (Ret.) Cliff Parke, Campbellsville, KY (1954-2012)

SSG (Ret.) Cliff Parke was the son of James Shelby Parke and Runell Boston Parke. He was born in Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY, Thursday, July 8, 1954. He died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 58 years, 3 months, and 19 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army for over twenty-one years primarily as a Telecommunications Specialist and Recruiter. He retired as a staff sergeant and was awarded many medals and citations including: Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), Driver and Mechanic Badge, US Army Gold Recruiter Badge with three Sapphire Achievement Stars, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, M-16 Rifle and M-9MM Pistol.

He served during the Vietnam Era and Desert Storm Era, having retired on September 30, 1995. He united in marriage to Joyce Sumner Strunk April 9, 1988.

Besides his wife, Joyce Strunk Parke, he is survived by the following:
  • Two step sons: Eddie Strunk and fiancee, Jennifer Nicholas; and Tim Strunk and wife, Karen

  • Two grandsons: Cody Strunk and wife, Bobbi Jo and Keagan Strunk

  • Three great grandchildren: Anisia Strunk, Caitlin Strunk, and Keagan Edward Strunk, Jr.; all of Somerset, KY

  • Hs parents, James Shelby and Runell Parke of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two sisters and their husbands: Jenene and Clark Bledsoe of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; and Pattie and Ray Doyle of Marietta, Georgia

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And many other relatives and friends
