Eugene Wolford, Adair County, KY (1936-2012)

He was a member of one of Adair County's greatest pioneer families, and, in the Wolford family tradition of patriotism, Eugene Wolford was a US Army veteran. He was a self employed painting and dry wall contractor.

Eugene Wolford, age 76 years, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2102 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY after an illness.

His brother Wilburn (Geary) Wolford also joined him in death hours earlier on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

A joint funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. John Blakey and Bro. Mike Moon the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Millerfield Brethren in Christ Church Cemetery, located beside the church at 1891 Millerfield Road, Columbia, KY.The family will receive friends after 4pmCT, on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Eugene Wolford, Adair County, KY (1936-2012)

He was born Sunday, February 2, 1936 in the Millerfield Community of Adair County, the son of the late Omar and Nellie Mae Hardwick Wolford. He died Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 76 years, 8 months, and 25 days.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Phelps Wolford of Elizabethtown, KY, and the following:
  • Two brothers: Randall Wolford and wife, Nelda June of Louisville, KY; and Alton "Tom" Wolford of wife: Carol of Shepherdsville, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends
In addition to his brother, Wilburn "Geary" Wolford, who died the same day, he was preceded in death by a brother, Almon Wolford, and one sister Judith Hadley Lefaive.

Mr. Wolford was a US Army veteran and was a self employed painting and dry wall contractor.
