Donald Grider, Russell County, KY (1941-2012)

He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded Royville, KY, family, with many relatives in Russell and Adair Counties of South Central Kentucky. He leaves six direct living descendants. Mr. Grider attended Royville Friendship Church and was a home builder and remodeler

Donald Grider, 71, of Russell Springs, passed away Tuesday October 23, 2012 at his home after several months battling cancer.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT, Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Russell County, KY. Bro. Charles Edwards and Bro. Jim Kingry will be the officiating clergy.



Pallbearers: Brian Grider, Branden Powell, Timmy Antle, Tyler Antle, Don Franklin, and Charles Smith.


Donald Grider, Russell County, KY (1941-2012)


He was born on Wednesday, July 2, 1941 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Buford and Clara Richards Grider. He died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in Russell Springs, KY, at the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

He is survived by his wife, Flora Ashbrook Grider and the following:
  • One son: Walter, (Sheena) Grider, Jamestown, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Brian (Ashley) Grider, Russell Springs, KY; Jamie Benham, Columbia, KY and Brandon (Brandie) Powell, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two great grandchildren: Brayden and Audrey of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Charles (Fern) Grider, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sisters: Sue (Phillip) Carter, Columbia, KY; and Beulah Guffey, Jamestown, KY
Mr. Grider attended Royville Friendship Church and was a home builder and remodeler.
