James N (Shade Tree) Shofner, Taylor Co., KY (1934-2012)

He was a beloved figure in Taylor County, KY and the patriarch of a highly regarded family. Besides his wife of over 60 years, Juanita Allen, he leaves three direct living descendants. He professed faith in Christ and attended The Vineyard. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom, was a noted furniture maker and was a Walmart Associate for many years working as a greeter

James N. "Shade Tree" Shofner, 78, Campbellsville, KY, died at 7:47pmET,., Saturday, October 6, 2012, in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 11amET/10amCT, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, Dr. Ray Roberts. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery on West Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is 5pm-8pmET/4pm-7pmCT, at the funeral home.




Pallbearers: Kenneth Gibson, James Hatcher, Bobby Miilby, Aaron Shofner, Donnie Shofner, Elbert Shofner, and James Skaggs.

Honorary pallbearers: Shelia Gibson, Frances Gilpin, Kay Hatcher, Jane Milby, Carolyn Shofner, Patricia Shofner, Peggy Shofner, and Viola Watson.

James N (Shade Tree) Shofner, Taylor Co., KY (1934-2012)

James N. "Shade Tree" Shofner was the son of the late Joe Ed Shofner and Lurey Roarks Shofner. He was born Monday, April 2, 1934 in Taylor County, KY. He died Saturday, October 6, 2012, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 4 days.

He professed faith in Christ and attended The Vineyard.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom, was a noted furniture maker and was a Walmart Associate for many years working as a greeter.

He united in marriage to Juanita Allen, December 19, 1951.

Besides his wife, Juanita Shofner of Campbellsville, he is survived by the following:
  • One son and daughter in law, Joe and Julie Shofner of Cape Girardeau, Missouri

  • Two grandchildren: Aaron Joseph Shofner and Alayna Marie Shofner

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: Sam "Jack" Shofner, Coy Shofner, Alvie Shofner and Laura Shofner.
