Ronnie Furkin, Adair County, KY (1952-2012)

He was a highly respected citizen of Columbia, KY, and is remembered for his friendly manner and his perseverance in the face of hardship and for the devoted care he gave his grandson, the late James Vaughn. He attended New Hope Baptist Church.

Ronnie Furkin, age 60 years of Columbia, KY passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 10:03amCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital after several weeks illness.

Funeral service Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:30amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Interment in Harvey Cemetery, 40 Harvey Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Norman Furkin, Steve England, Ricky Kerns, Jeffrey Coffey, Billy Fudge and Robert Ace Patterson.


Ronnie Furkin, Adair County, KY (1952-2012)


He was born Wednesday, March 12, 1952 in Adair County, KY He was the son of the late Coy and Ruth Coomer Furkin. He died Sunday, September 23, 2012, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 60 years, 6 months, and 11 days.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Parrish Furkin of Columbia, KY and the following:
  • One son: Steven Furkin of Columbia, KY

  • Three daughters: Jenifer Branham and husband Brandon of Columbia, KY; Nevaeh Barrett of Columbia, KY; Carla Burns and husband Dennis of Winchester, TN

  • One brother: Donald Furkin of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: LuAnne Janes of Columbia, KY

  • Nieces and nephews: Megan Janes, Tabatha Furkin, Darren Furkin, Bridgette Lester, James Furkin, Kim Hadley, Connie Lawhorn, Donna Sue Furkin, Kathy Shelton and Jean LeFaivre

  • And also a host of other relatives and friends survive
He was preceded in death by a grandson James Vaughn in 2008.
