Jim Caywood: Westlake rose to No 1 in my eyes - today

After what he thinks is a allergic reaction to Niacin, he was treated at Westlake. He has accolades for the hospital - especially the ER and gives Celia Downey a gold star. 'She's the best,' he says.

By Jim Caywood

Somewhere in my ramblings I read that Niacin would help clean your arteries. It might do it...but be very careful if you take it.

I picked up a bottle at a health food store. I'm 99% sure it's what put me in the hospital for a couple hours today with an alergic reaction after reading a link sent to me by my son Clint. I had forgotten I had taken it as I was more or less in a fog.

The staff at Westlake Hospital was very professional and really on top of things. I've been in a hospital or two and our hospital in Columbia KY rose to No. 1 in my eyes very quickly.

I have never been treated any better any where. Allergic reactions make one feel like its all over. You are pretty sure that it's just a matter of minutes before you pass out...that is what happened to me about 20 years ago.

Things happened fast as soon as I got to Westlake and I really appreciate that. RN Ms Celia gets a gold star! She's the best. All were super that I had any contact with. A special thanks to Preston for that warm blanket, once the burning stopped I was cold!

Thank you Westlake Hospital staff. I'm so glad I had a good hospital close. - Jim Caywood
