Judge Ruby Jane Wallace, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. May 26, 2012)

Edmonton, KY has lost one of its most beloved citizens. Judge Wallace was known for her embracing, warm smile, and the genuine care she had for others. She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded Metcalfe County family and the widow of long time Metcalfe County political power, former Sheriff and Judge, and Deputy Judge Gilbert Wallace. She leaves 32 direct living descendants. She was the daughter of the late James Filmore and Minnie Hurt Froedge. Ruby was City Judge from 1968-1977 and worked at Metcalfe Drugs as a store clerk for several years

Ruby Jane Wallace age 89 of Edmonton died Saturday, May 26 2012 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.

Funeral services will be at 11amCT, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be 3pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, May 29, 2012.



She was the daughter of the late James Filmore and Minnie Hurt Froedge. Ruby was City Judge from 1968-1977 and worked at Metcalfe Drugs as a store clerk for several years.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Eddie Wallace of LaGrange, KY

  • One daughter: Judy (Mike) Irvin of Russell Springs, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren: Kristie and Courtney Wallace both of Louisville, KY; Abby Pruitt and Lindsey McEnery both of Columbus, Ohio; Bobby Reece of Edmonton, KY; Roberta Walter of Lexington, KY; Jimmy Wallace and Alicia McClure both of Bowling Green, KY; Joseph and Byron Irvin both of Russell Springs, KY; and Wallace Irvin of Bowling Green, KY

  • Daughter in law Barbara Wallace of Columbus Ohio

  • Two brothers: Herbert and Rubin Froedge both of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two sisters: Kathleen Lowe of Indianapolis, IN; and Ollie Brown of Louisville, KY
  • <
  • Nineteen great grandchildren
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband former County Judge Gilbert Wallace: three children, Tommy and Wister Wallace, daughter Marjorie Reece, and daughter in law Becky Wallace.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
