LWC routs IU Southeast 10-0 at NAIA Softball Championship Season comes to an end with a 1-2 showing in NAIA Pool Play, Grenadiers advance despite lopsided loss to Blue Raiders By Dan White News from Lindsey Wilson College GULF SHORES, AL - Playing for nothing but pride and a love of the game, Lindsey Wilson came alive in the NAIA Softball Championship on Saturday, rallying for a 10-0 win against Indiana Southeast at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. It was an interesting dynamic, with both teams knowing their respective fates.. Win or lose, the Grenadiers are advancing to next week's double-elimination bracket after a 2-0 start and the Blue Raiders were playing their season finale after an 0-2 showing.. All of those aspects aside, it was a great showing for a Lindsey Wilson team finishing the year with a 47-13 overall record and 19-5 mark in Mid-South Conference play, including winning the MSC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.. The Grenadiers advance into the double-elimination round with a 34-18 record and 2-1 record in NAIA Pool Play.. Lindsey Wilson jumped in front of IU Southeast in a hurry, scoring four runs in both the first and third innings with a two-run frame in the second. The game came to a close in the fifth inning by run rule with the Blue Raiders up by eight runs or more through five innings.. First baseman Amy Buwalda was locked in at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs, scoring all of the runs on a first inning double with the bases loaded.. Center fielder Megan Huckaby and catcher Jane Egiazarova paced the offense with two hits each while Lindsey Wilson finished with eight total hits. The Grenadiers managed just two hits as they were shut out by Blue Raider starter Jordan Hood and reliever Cara Law.. Hood improved to 19-5 in the circle with the win, allowing the two hits and striking out a pair of batters through four innings. Law pitched the final inning without giving up a hit..
