Tommy Giles, Adair County, KY (1939-2012)

He was one of Columbia's most respected Christian gentlemen and was a beloved and valued citizen. He was a member of a large, distinguished Adair County family. He was a faithful member of the Columbia Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of Columbia Lodge 96, a member of the Taylor County RECC Board of Directors, a former Columbia City Councilman and was a founding member of the Adair County Rescue Squad

Tommy Giles, 72, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at 12:40pmCT, at his residence.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 1pmCT,. at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin & Bro. Terry White officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4pmCT, Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Masonic rites will be held Wednesday at 7pmCT, by Columbia Lodge 96.



Casket Bearers: Gregg Bardin, Donald Dean Shuffett, Pete Kessler, Scotty Minor, Raymond Rucker, Barry Myers, and John Patterson

Honorary: Lauren VanArsdale, Tyler, Jared, Cody and Jayden Giles.

Tommy Giles, Adair County, KY (1939-2012

He was born Friday, December 29, 1939, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of late Wesley and Jeston May Giles. He died Monday, April 16, 2012, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 3 months, and 18 days.

He was a member of Columbia Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of Columbia Lodge 96, a member of the Taylor County RECC Board of Directors, a former Columbia City Councilman and was a founding member of the Adair Co. Rescue Squad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jim Giles on September 3, 2009.

Survivors include the following:
  • His wife: Barbara Hendrickson Giles of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Jennifer (Mark) Ferguson of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: Jeff (Joy) Giles of Crane, Indiana, and John ( Sherri) Giles of Bowling Green, KY

  • Five brothers: Arthur Giles of Campbellsville, Clifford, Alvin D., Travis and Junior Giles all of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Emogene Redmon of Shepherdsville, KY; Lillie Mae Pike of Columbia, KY; and Wanda Helm of Russell Springs, KY

  • Five grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends
