Joseph Burton age 63 years of the Portland Community in Adair County passed away Monday March 19, 2012 at 5:33amCT, at his home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQuearyFuneral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, with Bro. Willard Bryant the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Lovedale Cemetery, 2950 Allen Schoolhouse Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Todd Green, Bobby Roberts, Jr., Darrell Rooks, Jimmy Harmon, Brandon Scott and Chris Wethington.

Joseph Burton, Adair County, KY (1948-2012)

He was born on Tuesday, November 16, 1948 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Finis and Jewell McQueary Burton. He died Monday, March 19, 2012, in Portland, Adair County, KY at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 3 days.

He is survived by his wife Betty Rooks Burton, and the following:
  • Two sons: Kenny Joe Burton of Portland and Jason Burton and his friend Lisa Crawhorn and her son Riley Burton of Portland, KY

  • Two brothers: Coy Burton and wife Donna of Columbia, KY; and Kenneth Dale Burton and wife Peggy of Knifley, KY

  • Grandson: Riley Burton

  • Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Ruby Roberts, Finis Burton, Jr. and Don Burton.

He was a retired saw mill worker.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, in charge of arrangements.
