Opal Marie Pelley, 93, a native of Liberty, KY passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at her home in Columbus, IN.

Funeral services will 1pmET/12pm noon CT, Monday March 12, 2012 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10amET/9amCT until funeral service.



Opal Marie Pelley, Casey Co., KY native (1918-2012)

Born October 22, 1918 in Liberty, KY, she was the daughter of Ethley and Lottie Wilson Ellis. She died Thursday, March 8 2012, in Columbus, Bartholemew County, IN, at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 16 days.

She is the widow of Jesse Pelley, who passed away June 4, 1993.

She was a homemaker and a former employee of Sapp's Bakery in Columbus, IN. Mrs. Pelley was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Survivors include:
  • Her sons: Lemuel "Jay" Pelley of Columbus, IN and Mitchell "Mitch" (Clara) Pelley of Campbellsville, KY

  • Daughters: Peggy Posey of Scipio, IN and Sue (Ed) Scott of Columbus, IN

  • A sister: Pauline Goode of Elizabethtown, IN

  • A brother, Wilbert Lawhorn of Somerset, KY

  • Ten grandchildren

  • Several great and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pelley was preceded in death by her father; mother, Lottie Lawhorn; husband; and several brothers and sisters.
