Mrs. Nelda Lafawn Philpott Nettles, age 79, of the Leslie Community in Cumberland County, KY, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2012 at her residence in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11amCT, Friday February 24, 2012 , in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home 601 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY. Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5pmCT on Thursday February 23, 2012 until the service time on Friday.

She was born on Tuesday, November 15, 1932 in Wash's Bottom Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky the daughter of Howard and Willia Rosabella Thrasher Philpott. She diedTuesday February 21, 2012 at her residence in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 6 days.

She was a member of Leslie United Methodist Church, and a homemaker.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jackson Philpott; her sister, Mary Belle Campbell and her brother-in-law, Gordon Campbell.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence James "Bud" Nettles of Burkesville, KY, and the following:
  • Her son, Lawrence Howard (and Cindy) Nettles of Burkesville, KY

  • Her daughter: Lafawn Cynthia Nettles of Burkesville, KY

  • Her brother: James (and Jean) Philpott of Crestview, Florida

  • Her grandchildren: Colby Nettles and Carly Jo Nettles
The family suggest memorials be directed to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky 42503.
