Frieda L. Vanoy, Casey Co., KY (1926-2012)

Mrs. Vanoy retired from teaching after 45 years, having started her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse. She also worked in the school system as a Librarian and she was a member of the Casey County Public Library Board. Mrs. Vanoy obtained her college degrees from Lindsey Wilson College, Miami University in Ohio, and Eastern Kentucky University. She was inducted into the Casey County Alumni Association. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Liberty, KY, and the Christian Women's Fellowship group at the Church. She also formerly helped distribute commodities through the Casey County Community Ministries. Mrs. Vanoy was a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed raising and selling her miniature donkeys.

Frieda L. Vanoy, age 85, of Liberty, passed away on January 11, 2012, at the Casey County Hospital, Liberty, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 11amET/10amCT, Friday, January 13, 2012, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Homer Hecht officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm-9pmET/5pm-8pmCT, Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be Will Hatter, Trent Rodgers, Noah Brown, Steven Brown, Paul Godbey, Mark Rodgers, Trevor Harrison, and Joe Wethington.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born Monday, November 22, 1926, in Casey County, KY. She was a daughter of the late Fred B. and Flora Russell Luttrell. She died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 85 years, 1 month, and 19 days.

She was the widow of Glen Vanoy, who passed away May 24, 2007.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her daughters: Glenda (Brent) Harrison, Patricia (Zandell) Buck, and April (Chad) Weddle, all of Dunnville, KY

  • Nine grandchildren: Francie (Paul) Godbey, Heather (Steven) Brown, Beth (Mark) Rodgers, Amanda (Joe Wethington) Pendleton, Paige Harrison, Trevor Harrison, Madison Weddle, Dalton Weddle, and Carli Weddle

  • Nine great-grandchildren, Will, Trent, Noah, Reece, Maggie, Sadie, Jalen, Allen, and Isabella
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Casey County Public Library, 238 Middleburg Street, Liberty, KY 42539.

Arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
