Kessler Sisters place in Top 10 at KY Proud Youth Livestock awards banquet Jera and Kyla win in Top 10 Dairy Cows, Dairy Showmanship, Dairy Exhibitors, and win award with their father Kevin as 1st in All Species. Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Linda Kessler At the Kentucky Proud Youth Livestock Points Banquet and Awards Jera Kessler and her sister, Kyla Kessler received nine awards. The Kentucky Youth Livestock Points Banquet was Saturday October 22, 2011 at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort, KY. The KDA, Division of Show and Fair Promotion presented these awards to recognize and reward the hard work of KY youth exhibitors. Jera received the 3rd and 9th place award while Kyla received the 6th and 7th place award for having exhibits in the Top 10 Dairy Cows. In the Top 10 Dairy Showmanship Jera Kessler was 3rd and Kyla Kessler was 4th in KY. In the Top 10 Dairy Exhibitors Award Jera was 4th and Kyla was 5th in the state. The last one they received was with their father, Kevin Kessler and it was 1st in the Breeders of All Species. Richie Farmer, Commissioner of the KY Department of Agriculture said "We at KDA feel that resources spent on our youth, are resources well spent. Kentucky has become one of the top livestock producing states in the country. If we are to continue this trend, we must then continue to train our youth to become leaders in he livestock industry.
