Bessie Rae Harmon, Adair County, KY (1935-2011)

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded Adair County family. She leaves 37 direct living descendants. She was a member of the Russell Heights Baptist Church, Columbia, KY

Bessie Rae Harmon, 76, of Columbia, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 8:15pmCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Ralph Foster and Bro. Jimmy Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 5pmCT, Monday, October 10, 2011.



Casket Bearers: Howard Robertson, Evin Eberhardt, Frank Burke, Mike Clements. Harold Blancheield, and Robbie Harmon.

Bessie Rae Harmon, Adair County, KY (1935-2011)

She was born September 30, 1935, in Adair County. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Ann Franklin Estes. She died October 8, 2011, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 76 years, 8 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Keith, Nancy Franklin, Evelyn Kerns, Essie Blanchfield, four brothers; Raymond, Garnett, Oll, Charles and Finis Estes and two grandchildren.

She was a member of Russell Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her husband: Rev. Gilbert L. Harmon of Columbia, KY

  • Four daughters: Mary (Howard) Robertson of Sulphur Well, KY; Linda (Kevin) Eberhardt of Cincinnati, OH, Darlene (Frank) Burke, Ruthann (Mike) Clements all of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: Robert (Sharon) Harmon, Johnny (Gina) Harmon all of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Inis Phillips of Columbia, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • and 20 great-grandchildren

  • Special Friend: Katherine Parrish of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and friends
