Lavoy Price, Taylor Co., KY (1932-2011)

She was one of South Central Kentucky's most widely know restaurant and general store operators. She retired as owner and operator of Prices Grocery, near Saloma, after over fifty years at the store and restaurant, in partnership with her husband, Roland W. Price until his death in 1986. She was an unforgettable personality, and a font of community news. She is remembered for her warmth, wit and for the wonderful food she served from a groaning board buffet at embarassingly low prices; so popular on Saturdays when diners would drive in from surrounding county seat towns. Her generosity was legendary. If she thought one hadn't eaten enough from the buffet, she was known to refuse to take full price. She was a member of the Zion Separate Baptist Church in Taylor County. -CM
