Woody Powell, 62, of Russell Springs, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at a daughter's home in Greensburg, KY after an illness.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Foster officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Monday, August 8, 2011.



Active casket bearers: Jim Phillips, Todd Coomer, Todd Cundiff, Roger Cox, Rubin Leveridge and David Sandusky.

Honorary casket bearers: Bloomington Chapel Church, Marshall Allen Powell, Danny Joe Powell, Relinda Brown, Carol Rigney, Telenia Dobbs, Stefany Cox, Terry Perkins, Dallas Coomer, Stephen Coomer and Brandon Powell.

He was born Friday, June 24, 1949. He was the son of the late Dorothy Mae Janes and Woodruff Powell. He died Saturday, August 6, 2011, in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, at the age of 62 years, 1 month, and 13 days.

He was a truck driver and attended Bloomington Chapel Church in Columbia, KY.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son and daughter in law: Bobby and Jessica Powell of Mt. Washington, KY

  • Three daughters : Sherry Walden and her husband Scott, Cindy Coomer and her husband Todd and Erica Smith all of Greensburg, KY

  • Two brothers: Joe Powell of Russell Springs, KY; and Marshall Powell of Somerset, KY

  • One sister: Ann Cundiff of Russell Springs, KY

  • Five grandchildren

  • One great grandchild
