Ruby Yates, Adair Co., KY (1924-2011)

She was one of the community's most beloved citizens. She is warmly remembered for her friendliness, her grace, her Christian example, and for her business leadership. She was a member of the House Upon A Rock Tabernacle in Russell Co., KY. She was co-founder of United House of Prayer. Ruby and her late husband Jim Yates operated the Jim Dandy Drive Inn Restaurant, Columbia, KY for many years. She was chairperson of the Breeding School Reunion for 40 years

Ruby Yates age 86 years a resident of Summit Manor Health and Rehab Center, Columbia, KY passed away Thursday at 6:35pmCT at Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY.

The funeral service will be Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 4pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY with Bro. Jody Perkins the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the funeral home.



Ruby Yates, Adair Co., KY (1924-2011)

She was born on Monday, September 1, 1924, at Breeding, Adair Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Loral Talt and Ruth Ruby Scott Bradshaw. She died Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Columbia, Adair Co., KY, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

She was the widow of Rev. James W. Yates who preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters Leon Bradshaw, Martin Addison Bradshaw, Lula Mae Strunk, Jeanette Hulse and Peggy Roberts.

She is survived by one son, Bro. Kerry Yates and his wife Patricia of Columbia, KY and the following:
  • Two brothers: L. T. Bradshaw of Columbia, KY; and Bobby Bradshaw of Springfield, MO

  • Two grandchildren: Dennis Yates and his wife Angie and Felicia VanArsdale and her husband Todd

  • Four great grandchildren: Erin and Cody Yates, Schyler and Quinton VanArsdale

  • Special friends: Joan Loy, Katherine Parrish, Pam and Sammy King

  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
