Mrs. Melba Jean Jones of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. She was 80 years, 3 months and 20 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Melba Jeanne Jones will be conducted at 10amCT., Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the New Salem Cemetery. Bro. Landon Hadley and Bro. Wilbur Bonta will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-9pmCT, Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral.



Pallbearers: Jason Milby, Man Jones, Bub Bonta, Sammy Smith, Steve Jewell, Wallace White, and Sammy Bonta.

Honorary pallbearers: Jim and Glenna Moss; Hubert, Patsy and Trevor Wright; Wendell and Diane Wright, Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth DeSimone, Joyce Curry, Willow Dean Jewell, Sunday School Class.

Melba Jean Jones, Green Co., KY (1931-2011)

Mrs. Melba Jean Jones was the daughter of the late Louie Franklin Laramore and Alice Mae Pierce Laramore. She was born on Thursday, April 6, 1931 in Delbridge, MO, and departed this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Glasgow, Barren Co., KY. She was 80 years, 3 months and 20 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church and was a farmer.

She united in marriage to Nunis W. "Tooter" Jones who preceded her in death on December 28, 1981.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Alicia Jean and Bill Bonta of Greensburg, KY

  • A granddaughter and her husband: Melissa and Jason Milby of Greensburg, KY

  • Four brothers and five sisters-in-law: Glen Paul "Sonny Laramore of Missouri, George Forrest and Janet Laramore of Greensburg, KY; and Donald Melvin and Jody Laramore, Raymond Eugene and Donna Laramore, Juanita Laramore and June Laramore all of Missour

  • Five sisters and brothers-in-law: Wilma Ruth "Sissie" and A.W. "Bud" Coy, Mary Ann and Lester Schroer, Erma June and James Harrelson, LaDonna Elaine and Mike O'Bryan, and Phyllis Mae and William Long all of Missouri

  • A special caregiver: Heather Ervin of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by two brothers: James Franklin Laramore and John Robert Laramore; three nephews: Lester Wayne Schroer, David Paul Laramore and Donald Bradley Laramore.The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, which can be made at the funeral home.The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY in charge of arrangements.
