Three Adair County post offices on USPS hit list

If closures happen, Adair County will have only one post office, Columbia 42728. Does anybody remember how many post offices were here when every neighborhood seemed to have one? (Emergency update from Mike Watson at 12:57pmCT: Well, Ed, by my count - not including name or spelling changes, or changes from county to county due to close proximity of county lines - 80 postoffices in Adair County at one time or another. - Mike Watson) Anyone know what will have to be done to prevent the closures? - CM

This just in from "Jim".

Three Adair County Post Offices are on the USPS "hit list" for possible closure:
  • Breeding, 42715
  • Cane Valley, 42720
  • Gradyville, 42742
We're checking the rest of the list for closures the other six area counties, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor Counties. Our thanks to "Jim" for this news tip. Update: Here it is: Also targeted are Windsor 42565 in Casey County; Knob Lick 42154 in Metcalfe County, and Mannsville 42758 in Taylor County. We did not find any others in the Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell, and Taylor County area in a pretty careful scan.
