Elsie Compton Nance, 72, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. July 18, 2011)

She was a member of a large, respected Metcalfe Co., KY, family. She leaves 39 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ

Elsie Compton Nance age 72 of Edmonton died Monday, July 18, 2011 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

Funeral services will be held 11amCT, Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Jeffries Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ada Wilson Compton. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons: Charles (Sandy) Costello of Edmonton, KY; Randy (Shari) Nance of Edmonton, KY; and Steve Costello of Glasgow, KY

  • Six daughters: Jo Ann Hurt of Owensboro, KY; Robin (Roger) Lawon of Glasgow, KY; Judy Pedigo of Berea, KY; Betsy (Jay) Williams of Scottsville, KY; Debbie Costello of Radcliff, KY; and Amy Nance of Edmonton, KY

  • One brother: Tony Compton of Edmonton, KY

  • Three sisters: Clara Compton and Annie Logsdon both of Edmonton, KY; and Nettie Coomer of Columbia, KY

  • One half sister: Barbara Smith of Edmonton, KY

  • One step brother: William Compton of Edmonton, KY

  • Two step sisters: Magdalene Poynter of Edmonton, KY; and Mary Chism of Glasgow, KY

  • Eighteen grandchildren

  • Twelve great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Costello; two brothers, Robert and Denzil Compton, and one sister, Florence Compton Herald.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
