Opal Spencer, Adair Co., KY (1933-2011)

She was the matriarch of a large, beloved South Adair Co., KY, family. She leaves 61 direct living descendants

Opal Spencer, 77, of the Cundiff community, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 12:55pmCT, at Summit Manor Health and Rehab.

The funeral service will be Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 1pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Hadley and Bro. Jody Perkins officiating. Burial in Spencer Family Cemetery in Cundiff, KY. Visitation after 5pmCT Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.



Casket Bearers: Eddie Foster, Gary Foster, Joey Smith, David Kelsay, Wayne Kelsay, Stephen Kelsay, Patrick Loy, Eric Helm, and Lucas Murphy.

Opal Spencer, Adair Co., KY (1933-2011)

She was born Saturday, June 3, 1933, in Adair Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Loren and Pearlie Bradshaw Keith. She died June 1, 2011, in Columbia, Adair Co., KY, at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Spencer in 1971, one son, Charles Spencer, one brother, Charlie Vernon Keith and a sister, Etta Helm.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Deamon Spencer and Leon (Mary) Spencer both of Columbia, KY

  • Six daughters: Faylene (James) Smith, Marlene (Roger) Rooks, Maylene (Carl Jr.) Kelsay, Joyce (Autry) Loy, Donna Jean (Jerry) Ford, Dorothy (Dale) Murphy all of Columbia, KY

  • One brother: Robert Keith of Russell Springs, KY

  • Twenty-one grandchildren

  • Twenty-nine great grandchildren

  • Three great great grandchildren
