He was an honored minister of the Separate Baptist faith, a skilled carpenter, and a member of a highly regarded Russell Co., KY, family. He was a member of the Square Oak Separate Baptist Church

Bro. Donnie L. Coffey, 68, Old Hoppertown RD, Russell Springs, KY, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Norton Audubon Hospital, Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 10amCT, at the Fairview Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. Bobby Conner, Bro. Randy Brown, Bro. David Coffey, and Bro. Danny Hurt officiating. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the church on KY 55, Jamestown, KY. Special music will be by Harry Kimbler and David Hadley.



Active Pallbearers: Neal Dalton, Leon Wooldridge, Brently Bault, Wayne Baird, Clint Hart, Lance Coffey, and grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers: Don Miller, LeRoyse Melson, Kevin Antle, David Hadley, Barry Lawson, David Irwin, Gary Godby, Doug Baldwin, Clifford Wilson, Carlie Roy, David Giles, and Jeff Hubbard.

Bro. Donnie L. Coffey, Russell Co., KY (1942-2011)

He was born Friday, November 16, 1942, in Russell County, KY. He was the son of Okle May Gosser Coffey and Cassius Clay Coffey. He died Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY, at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 16 days.

He was a minister and a carpenter and a member of the Square Oak Separate Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna Gaye Zimmerman Coffey, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Three children: Bro. Troy Lee (Allison) Coffey, Tonja Coffey, and Tylar (Carolee) Coffey, all of Russell Springs, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Donavun Tate Coffey, Cadylee Dayne Coffey, Brenan Lee Coffey, Audrey Payton Coffey, Branscum hayes Coffey, and Caden Jace Coffey

  • Sister in law: Dicy Coffey, Russell Springs, KY

  • Three brothers: Jimmy Clay (Della) Coffey, and Paul (Melody) Coffey, both of Russell Springs, KY; and Doug Coffey, Raleigh, NC

  • Two sisters: Imogene (Ertis) Cain, Somerset, KY; and Jennie (Danny) Hart, Russell Springs, KY
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Marie Coffey and Ilith Whittle; and a brother, Ed T. Coffey.

Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
