Joppa ancestral home of descendants of John & Elizabeth Bryant

Comments re article 44479 Joppa: It means BeautifulBy E.H. Lepiarczyk

I would think that most descendants of John (ca. 1760-ca. 1841) and Elizabeth Bryant (ca. 1766-ca. 1854) would be proud to call beautiful Joppa their ancestral homeland!

The John Bryant family is among Adair County's first families in Adair County history; and particularly the Joppa community. Vincent Pfefferman now owns the former John Bryant farm in the Joppa community. The historic Bryant Cemetery is located on this farm.

Members of the John Bryant family attended services at the Zion Baptist Church in the Zion community, near Joppa.

Apparently John Bryant was engaged in military service during the War of the American Revolution. The graves of John and Elizabeth Bryant are in the historic Bryant Cemetery, located in the Joppa community.

My mother's second cousin, the late Robert Jefferson Bailey, was the last member of my branch of the Bryant family to live on our ancestral John Bryant farm at Joppa.

May God bless all membes of the esteemed John Bryant family always. -E.H. Lepiarczyk
