Sarah Catherine Montgomery, Adair Co., KY native (1919-2011)

She was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family. She was a member of the Columbia Christian Church and was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Campbellsville, KY

Sarah Catherine Montgomery, 92, a resident of Medco Center of Campbellsville, formerly of Columbia, KY,died Thursday, April 28, 2011 in the Taylor Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Terry White and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Sunday, May 1, 2011.



Casket Bearers: Danny Kemp, Lou Bingham, Danny Grant, Robert "Boo" Cowherd, Eugene Wood, and Jerry Loy.

Sarah Catherine Montgomery, Adair Co., KY (1919-2011)

She was born Thursday, January 18, 1919 in Gradyville, Adair Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late J.W. and Alice Baker Sneed. She died Thursday, April 28, 2011, in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY, at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and retired from Fruit of the Loom.

She married Ural Montgomery in 1935 and he preceded her in death in June 1993. In addition to herparents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Woodruff and Rita Zane Montgomeryand six sisters; Ivy Coomer, May Coomer, Nina Bingham, Della Tarter, Lula Elizabeth Sneed & ChristineTweedy.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her son and daughter-in-law: Russell & Gladys Montgomery of Campbellsville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Barry and his wife Thea Montgomery of Birmingham, AL, Kim M. and husband TommyMills of Lexington, KY

  • Four great-grandchildren: Benjamin and wife Valerie Montgomery of Birmingham, AL, RebeccaMontgomery of Tuscaloosa, AL, Meg and Matthew Mills both of Lexington, KY

  • One great-great grandchild: Allison Montgomery of Birmingham, AL

  • One brother: Austin and his wife Maylene Sneed of Glasgow, KY

  • One sister: Argerine Kemp of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and friends
Memorials are suggested to the Columbia Christian Church Building Fund or Campbellsville ChristianChurch Building Fund. These may be left at the funeral home.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
