She was a member of a distinguished South Adair Co., KY, family. She was a graduate of Kentucky State University and was retired from the Russell Co., KY school system. She was a faithful and longtime member of the Santa Fee Baptist Church where she served in many leadership roles

Christine H. Wilkinson, 84, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2:45amCT at her home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2pmCT, at Santa Fee Baptist Church, 5505 Burkesville RD, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Louis Henry officiating. Burial in Lasley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6pmCT, Friday, April 29, 2011, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, and after 12pm noon CT, Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the church.

She was born Sunday, March 25, 1927 in Adair Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Zachariah and Effie Staton Hughes. She died Monday, April 25, 2011, at the age of 84 years and 1 month.

She was a graduate of Kentucky State University and was retired from the Russell County School System. She was a member of Santa Fee Baptist Church, serving in many capacities.Survivors include the following:
  • Her husband: Howard Wilkinson of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Emma Hughes of Columbia, KY

  • Four nephews and two nieces: Samuel Hughes of Columbia, KY; and James M. Hughes, Clifford Hughes, Merlin Duncan, Justina Hortense Sanders and Artilla Cooper all of Louisville, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
