Happy ending for dog reluctantly left at Sugarfoot Rescue

Dino, a friendly, big yellow lab with a huge heart, couldn't understand the circumstances which led his loving family to leave him behind, and despite all the love in the world at Sugarfoot Farm, he escaped, and made a month long trek back home. This time, the family decided that if the dog has to go, they go to. They'll move before giving up this wonderful pet again

News from Sugarfoot Farm Rescue, Inc.

There is great news!

Dino turned up at his home on Saturday night. His owner had surrendered him to us because the neighbors were complaining about him, Dino was the family pet - fetched sticks, talked, as well as being their constant companion.

Since his owners were renting they had no choice but to surrender him.

Dino was broken hearted - as were his owners - as they pulled away. He sat by the gate and refused to move. Everytime a car would drive by he would perk up his ears - hoping they realized they'd forgotten him.

I talked to him, petted him, and offered him treats but he wouldn't budge. I tried to lead him on a leash but he just pulled back and he was way too heavy for me to carry. So I left him in the fenced in area. When I went to check on him in the morning he was gone. I called his owner and he said he was sure he would be headed back home.

That was almost a month ago and Saturday night he was there at the door.

I'm so glad this had a happy ending. It's hard on dogs that are surrendered. They don't understand why they were left behind.

This owner had no choice, but people who decide to abandon their pets for any reason should consider the dog's best interests as well. This story had a happy ending but most don't.

Please think it over long and hard before abandoning your pet.

Now, Dino's family is hanging tough, standing by their dog. They're keeping him, and if the neighbors or the landlord complains, they're moving rather than give the great dog up again. So CANCEL this ad:
