Luke Maupin in National Finals; virtually tied for 1st in Nation!

ACADEMIC COUNTY, KY! Adair County High School has already won Third Place in the Nation in Washington, DC National History Bee and Bowl with Luke Maupin, Ryan Montgomery, Jake Leibeck, and Eddie Frankline representing the team in the championship round on Saturday. Now the amazing Luke Chandler Maupin is one of 16 finalists in competition at Mt. Vernon, VA.

WASHINGTON, DC (11:20amCT, 2011-04-17) Adair County A-team senior Luke Maupin accompanied by the Adair County High School A-team, is now en route to Mt. Vernon, VA, from their hotel in Washington, DC, following Luke's spectacular showing this morning in the first round of the individual championships of the National History Bee and Bowl.

He is currently No. 2 in the nation, ACHS Academic Coach Brett Reliford, reports. Mr. Reliford said that no more than 2-3 points separate Luke and the top competitor.

At Mt. Vernon, Luke will be competing with 15 other finalists.

The competition starts in 1 hour, 19 minutes, at 1:45pmET/12:45CT. Mr. Reliford will call with the results following the match. The team will board an Adair County School bus after that for a 12 hour ride back to Columbia, KY.
