Phyllis Ann Newby, 58, of Russell Springs, KY, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 5:05amET, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY, after an extended illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Seibert F. Taylor delivering the eulogy. Visitation after 6pm, Friday, April 15, 2011, at the funeral home.

She was born Sunday, August 17, 1952, in Green Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Broddus and Emma Lean Jones Johnson. She died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Somerset, Pulaski Co., KY, at the age of 58 years, 7 months, and 26 days.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a nurse at Westlake Regional Hospital, Russell Co. Hospital and ended her career at Family Home Health in Adair Co., KY.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her husband: Frank Marshall Newby of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two daughters: Moneak Edwards of Anderson, Indiana, Cheryl Newby of Jamestown, KY

  • One son: Frank Newby, Jr. of Columbia, KY

  • A very special family member: Jordan Nixon of Columbia, KY

  • A special friend, Bradley Brown of Eubank, KY

  • Four sisters: Roberta Lipscomb, Karen Newell, Linda Newell and Katherine Jones all of Somerset, KY

  • Two brothers: Stanley Johnson of Columbia, Mariece Shelby of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two grandchildren: Rhyann Edwards and Mannix Bell

  • Several other relatives and friends
