CU final organ recital of semester April 19, 2011

Program will feature music of Judith Davis, Saulo DeAlmeida, Dr. David Hedrick, Dr. Reese Land, Heather McDonald and Dr. Wesley Roberts

The final noon organ recital of the academic year at Campbellsville University will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 12:20pmET/11:20pmCT in Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel, 401 North Hoskins AV, Campbellsville, KY. The event is free and open to the public. The concert will end at 12:50pmET/11:50amCT, in time for those attending to return to work.


This program will feature faculty from the School of Music in literature for organ and instruments:Judith Davis, Saulo DeAlmeida, Dr. David Hedrick, Dr. Reese Land, Heather McDonald and Dr. Wesley Roberts will be joining in a program of music for organ with piano, cello, voice, trumpet and saxophone.

  • Judith Chen Davis is an adjunct instructor in piano and class piano at Campbellsville University and an independent piano teacher. She has been active both as a solo and ensemble pianist. She frequently accompanies undergraduate and graduate students at the university. She holds the Permanent Professional Certified Teacher of Music in Piano certification from the Music Teachers National Association.

  • Saulo DeAlmeida, born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is adjunct instructor in cello at Campbellsville University. DeAlmeida came to America to further his studies in cello, getting a Master's Degree in Cello Performance from Florida International University under the instruction of Professor Keith Robinson, a member of the famous Miami String Quartet.

  • Dr. David Hedrick taught for 28 years as director of vocal music at Shelby County High School in Shelbyville, KY. During his tenure there, his choirs consistently received distinguished ratings at Kentucky Music Educators Regional Assessment Festivals and in State Music Assessment. He has been associated with the outdoor musical drama, The Stephen Foster Story, for 38 years and serves as its director. Hedrick is an assistant professor of music at Campbellsville University, where he is in his fifth year, teaching voice and music education, as well as directing the Handbell Choir.

  • Dr. Reese Land, assistant professor of music at Campbellsville University, holds a doctorate in trumpet performance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He has performed throughout Kentucky in numerous solo and ensemble settings. At Campbellsville, he teaches trumpet, musicology, and directs the Brass Choir.

  • Heather McDonald is adjunct instructor in saxophone at Campbellsville University. She has been teaching saxophone and clarinet for 23 years. McDonald holds a Master of Music in Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

  • Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University since 1982, teaches piano, organ and musicology. He has given performances at the piano and organ in China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
