Merl Travis Thomas, Liberty, KY, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Liberty Care Center. He was 60.

Funeral services are 1pmET/12pm noon CT. Wednesday, April 6 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, by Bro. Matthew Lawhorn and Bro. Hershel Lawhorn. Burial will be in Thomas Ridge Cemetery in Casey Co., KY. Visitation continues, Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 8amET/7amCT, until funeral service at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Bruce Edwards, Brian Dangelmaier, Nathanael Blevins, Tony Strong , Jeff Murphy and Tony York.

Honorary bearers are Blake Thomas and Glenda Thomas.

He was born Thursday, April 27, 1950 in Casey Co., KY. He was the son of the late Oris Howard and Pernie Lou Holt Thomas. He died Monday, April 4, 2011, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 10 days.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son: John and (Christy) Thomas of Liberty, KY

  • Two daughters: Rachel Thomas of Junction City, KY: and Jenny and (Brian) Dangelmaier of Liberty, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Nathanael and Caitlyn Blevins, McKenzie and Kelsey Pittman, Blake Thomas and Anna and Addison Dangelmaier

  • Brother: Ronald Dean Thomas of Liberty, KY

  • Five sisters: Josephine Mann of Jamestown, KY; Sue Welch of Hustonville, KY; and Sandra Grant , Glenda Thomas and June Strong all of Liberty, KY
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Johnnie Thomas and sister, Linda Lou Thomas.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
