Crappie USA coming to Holmes Bend on Green River lake By Larry Crecelius Crappie USA Inc. will be holding a qualifying event at Holmes Bend on Green River, April 30, 2011 at Columbia, KY. Anglers will be fishing for a 7-fish limit of crappie, which could net them a check along with the opportunity to advance to the Cabelas Crappie USA Classic, which will be held October 12-15, 2011 on the Kentucky/Barkley Lakes at Paris, TN. A pre-tournament seminar will be held on Friday evening the April 29, 2011,at the Lindsey Wilson College's Roberta B. Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt DR, Columbia, KY. Sign up will begin at 5:00pmCT with the meeting and a national sponsor field test product drawing will take place at 7pmCT. This seminar is open to the public. The tournament weigh-in will be held on Saturday, April 30 2011, at the Holmes Bend Marina and Resort, 5380 Holmes Bend Road in Columbia beginning at 3:00pmCT. This is the perfect opportunity for local anglers to get in on an excellent tournament and win some of the payback and a chance to advance to the classic. For non-competitors it's a time to come and learn how the big ones are caught. Interviews of the top 5 teams will be conducted after the weigh in. Sue Stivers, executive director of The Columbia/Adair County Tourism is welcoming all Crappie USA anglers and their guests to the Green River area. The Columbia/Adair Chamber can be contacted at (270)-384-6020 or (888)-837-8012. The Tourism office is in the Chamber Building, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY. There will also be a Crappie USA Free Crappie Kids Rodeo held in conjunction with the tournament on Saturday morning the April 30, 2011, at the Holmes Bend Marina and Resort. Sign up for the Kids Rodeo will be at 8:00amCT with the rodeo from 9am-11amCT. The event is free to all children 12 and under with all participants eligible for a chance to win one of the six, Crappie USA $2,000.00 scholarships to be awarded at the Cabelas Crappie USA Classic.Crappie USA and our anglers have contributed nearly $302,000.00 to the Crappie Kids Scholarships since 1997.
