Rusty Devitt, CU named MSC Pitcher of the Week Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Chris Megginson, Campbellsville Athletics LOUISVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University junior Rusty Devitt was named the Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced Monday, March 21, 2011. The MSC weekly award is the first of the season for Devitt, who hurled a complete-game, one-hit shutout to earn the honor. The Seabeck, WA, native struck out nine Lindsey Wilson College batters en route to a 1-0 win over the Blue Raiders in game two of a four-game conference series. Devitt allowed just one walk in the game while facing 21 LWC official at-bats in the seven-inning game. This season, Devitt is 1-2 with a 1.71 earned run average -- seventh in the MSC. He ranks second in the conference with 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings and sixth in the Mid-South limiting opponents to a .178 batting average. Campbellsville, currently on a seven game win streak, is 12-9 overall this season and leads the MSC West Division with an 8-2 conference record.
