Mr. Richard Forrest Edwards, 75, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, Campbellsville, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Richard Forrest Edwards will be conducted at 1pmCT, Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery. Bro. Landon Hadley will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 4 until 8pmCT, Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Friday until time of the funeral service.

Mr. Richard Forrest Edwards of Greensburg, Green Co., KY, son of the late George O. Edwards and Cora Elizabeth Beard Edwards, was born on Friday, March 22, 1935 in Green Co., KY and departed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY. He was 75 years, 10 months and 24 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greasy Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver for Oakley, a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army.

He united in marriage to Evelyn Taylor who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Five daughters and four sons-in-law: Sharon and Bobby Garmon of Greensburg, KY; Brenda and Larry Roadcap of Virginia, Barbara and Richard Hale of Maysville, KY; Linda and Scott Pence of Nicholasville, KY; and Glenda Edwards of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Wendy Pickett and Shane Garmon both of Greensburg, KY; Shea Foley of Virginia, Kasey Collins and Kristin Hale both of Maysville, KY; and Taylor Pence and Morgan Pence both of Nicholasville, KY

  • Three great-grandchildren: Aiden Pickett, Reagon Foley, and Easton Price

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
Richard was raised by Owen Richard Jones and Cora Nell Stone after the passing of his mother, from complications during his birth. Besides his mother, he was also preceded in death by his siblings: Carl Edwards, Dorothy Robertson, Lawrence "Tad" Edwards, Magdeline Thompson, Olan Dale "Bill" Edwards, Delbert Ray "Joe" Edwards, G.C. "Dolan" Edwards, Haskell Edwards, and William S. Jones.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, in charge of arrangements.
