NSO Trombone-Violin Recital Feb. 18, 2011 at LWC

National Symphony Orchestra event will feature works by 10 composers. The performance is free and open to the public. A reception follows

Columbia, KY- Southcentral Kentucky residents can warm up on February 18 with an evening of chamber music for violin and trombone. The recital will feature two members of the National Symphony Orchestra, which is touring Kentucky during February.

The LWC recital will be at 7:30pmCT on Friday, February 18, 2011 in the LWC W.W. Slider Humanities Recital Hall, 155 Blue Raider Drive. It is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow.



"Lindsey Wilson is fortunate to be beneficiaries of this program, and we are excited that we can bring it to our students as well as members of the community," said Phil Hanna, chair of the Lindsey Wilson cultural affairs committee.

The February 18 recital will feature works by 10 composers, including Bernstein, Handel, Joplin, Mozart and Prokofiev

The recital will be given by trombonist Barry Hearn and violinist Marissa Regni. Hearn is assistant principal trombonist and Regni is principal second violinist of the National Symphony Orchestra.

Before joining the NSO, Hearn was a member of the Army Ceremonial Band, and prior to that he was a member of the Army Field Band at Fort Meade, MD.

Regni has held her current position with the NSO for more than 14 years. Before coming to Washington, DC, she was a member of the Saint Louis Symphony. She is also a member of the critically acclaimed Manchester String Quartet, and was a founding member of the Kennedy Center Chamber Players.

The LWC recital is part of the National Symphony Orchestra's 2011 American Residencies tour, which features a February 17-25 swing through Kentucky.

The full National Symphony Orchestra will perform on February 24, 2011, at the Center for Rural Development, 2292 U.S. 27, Somerset, KY. It will be the first performance in this region for the National Symphony Orchestra, which is housed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC

The NSO is also scheduled to perform this month in Lexington, Louisville, Florence, Owensboro and Paducah.
