Obituary: Mrs. Anna Ruth Garman Alexander, 83, Burkesville, KY

She was a class of 1947 graduate of Burkesville High School, a member of Order of the Eastern Star #380, a faithful member and pianist of The Burkesville First United Methodist Church, former employee of Burkesville Grocery Co., Pedigo Insurance Agency, Bank of Cumberland for over 25 years and Shearer Jewelry

Mrs. Anna Ruth Garman Alexander, age 83, of Glasgow Rd. (Grider Community) in Burkesville, KY, passed away Saturday January 22, 2011 at The Cumberland County Hospital, in Burkesville, KY.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday January 24, 2011 at 11amCT in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N. Main ST, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Robert Morris and Bro. Seth Denney officiating, Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation is after 2pmCT, Sunday, January 23, 2011, until the funeral hour on Monday.



Mrs. Anna Ruth Garman Alexander, Burkesville, KY (1927-2011)

She was born in The Scotts Bottom Community of Cumberland Co., KY, on Sunday, December 18, 1927. She was the the daughter of James Robert Garman, Sr. and Alma Bernice Pennycuff Garman. She died Saturday, January 22, 2011, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 4 days.

She was a class of 1947 graduate of Burkesville High School, a member of Order of the Eastern Star #380, a faithful member and pianist of The Burkesville First United Methodist Church, former employee of Burkesville Grocery Co., Pedigo Insurance Agency, Bank of Cumberland for over 25 years and Shearer Jewelry.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Justin Alexander; sister, McIva Doebler and niece, Cheryl Sewell Hamilton.She is survived by the following:
  • Her sister: Golda Nell (and Gene B.) Sewell of Burkesville, KY

  • Her brother: James Robert, Jr. (and Verna Jean) Garmon of Burkesville, KY

  • Her nieces and nephews: Terry (and Vicki) Garmon, Vicky Brandt, Kathy (and Barry) Dyer, Sue (and Jim) Love, Charles (and Crystal) Garmon, Eric Doebler, Monica (and Anthony), Tracy, Cindy (and Peter) Weisskopf

  • Several great nieces and nephews
The family would prefer Expressions of Sympathy take the form of donations to The Burkesville First United Methodist Church Building Fund in her memory.
