Obituary: Mrs. Martha L. Overfelt, 88, Green Co., KY

She was a native of Green Co., KY, a member of a large, highly regarded family

Mrs. Martha L. Overfelt, 88, of New Albany, IN, formerly of Green County, KY, departed this life on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany, IN

The funeral services for Mrs. Martha L. Overfelt will be conducted at 11amCT, Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Chapel of Winn Funeral Home, 210 Maple AV, Horse Cave, KY, with burial to follow in the Phillips Cemetery near Monroe. Visitation is requested from 2 until 6pmCT, Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Winn Funeral Home and after 8amCT, Monday, January 24, 2011, until time of the funeral service.



Mrs. Martha L. Overfelt, Green Co., KY (1922-2011)

Mrs. Martha L. Overfelt was the daughter of the late Joseph Motley and Vera Regina Marshall Gumm. She was born on Tuesday, April 18, 1922 in Green Co., KY, and departed this life on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in New Albany, Floyd Co. IN. She was 88 years of age.

She united in marriage to Girtha Landis Overfelt who preceded her in death in June of 1981.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters: Connie Rowley and her husband Mike, Vicki Thompson and her husband Jay, Kathy Sims and her husband Tony

  • Two brothers: William "Billy" Gumm and Larry "PeeWee" Gumm both of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Bryan Rowley, Tiffany Nolot, Rocky Diersing, Derek Rowley, Amanda Sims and Megan Rowley

  • Four great-grandchildren: Bryce Rowley, Brady and Brooklynn Nolot and Landis Sims

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Overfelt was also preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
