Obituary: York Potts, 82, Louisville, KY

He was a popular, respected Adair Countian with many family members in Columbia. He retained close friendships here throughout his life. He was employed for 50 years with Kitchen Kompact in Jeffersonville, IN. His marriage to Roberna Rogers endured for 47 years.

York Potts, 82, Louisville, KY, died at Norton's Hospice Care Center, Louisville, KY, on December 8, 2010.

The family has chosen cremation and a private burial service will be held at a later date in Union Cemetery, 174 Milltown Church RD, Gradyville, KY.



York Potts, Louisville, KY (1928-2010)

He was born on December 3, 1928, in Richmond, VA, to the late Tom and Shada Smith Potts. He died in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY on December 8, 2010, at the age of 82 years and 5 days.

He was married to Roberna Rogers Potts on November 16, 1963, and they shared 47 years together.Mr. Potts was employed by Kitchen Kompact in Jeffersonville, IN, for 50 years before his retirement in 1994.

In addition to his wife, Roberna, he is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Carmen and her husband Jerry Pyles; and Connie Potts Edwards and her husband Sam, all of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Ruel Potts and his wife Norma; Clifford Potts and the late Iva Dean, all of Louisville; and John Sam Potts and his wife Bobbie of Columbia

  • Four grandchildren: Rachelle and her husband, Tony Rodgers; Natalie Pyles, and Candice Potts, all of Columbia; and Nacole Potts of Brevard, NC

  • Two brothers in law: Mitchell Bragg and wife Loria, Columbia, KY; and Darry Bragg of Louisville, KY

  • One sister in law: Vonda Rowe, Louisville, KY

  • Five grandchildren

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
