Obituary: Joan Carter, 66, Russell Springs, KY She was a member of a large, respected family with deep roots in the Sano Community of Adair and Russell Counties of Kentucky. She was the widow of the late Gerald O. Carter, whose passing was a scant 18 days prior to her own. Joan Carter, 66, of Russell Springs, KY, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at her home. Funeral service will be Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 2pmCT, at Free Union Separate Baptist Church, 4242 Sano RD, (Map) Columbia, KY with Bro. Jim Goff officiating. Burial will be in Free Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Saturday, December 18, 2010, and 7amCT, Sunday, December 19, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY (MAP) and after 1pmCT, Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the church. Casket bearers: Phillip Keith, Jared Wright, Josh Giles, Kevin Murrell, Keith Murrell, Crystal Murrell, and Wayne Murrell. Joan Helm Carter, Adair Co., KY native (1944-2010) She was the daughter of the late William T. and Esther Keith Helm. She was born in Adair County on Monday, March 20, 1944, and died in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the age of 66 years, 8 months, and 26 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald O. Carter on November 28, 2010. Survivors include:
