Obituary: Lila Adell Ballou Wolfe, 88, formerly of Adair Co., KY

She was a member of a prominent Adair Co., KY family. She spent her adult life in Colorado, but made many trips back to Columbia in her more active years. She loved gardening, walks, and providing Southern Hospital. She and her husband owned and operated the Ft. Collins Municipal Railroad before selling it to the City of Ft. Collins, which operates, with volunteers, the line to this day.

Lila Adell Ballou Wolfe, age 87 years of Fort Collins, CO, formerly ofAdair Co., KY passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 in Colorado after anillness.



Lisa Adell Ballou Wolfe, Adair Co., KY native (1923-2010)

She was born Saturday, October 23, 1923, in Adair Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late William M. and Mattie Garrison Ballou. She died Friday, November 26, 2010, in Ft. Collins, Laramer Co., CO, at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 6 days.

She loved flowers, walks, extending southern hospitality, and cooking and baking.

In her more active years, she made frequent trips back to Columbia, KY, to visit their many relatives here.

She and her husband owned and operated the Ft. Collins Municipal Railroad in Ft. Collins, CO, for many years, before selling it to the home rule municipality of Ft. Collins, an entity which continues the railroad to this day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Wolfe in 2007.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two children: Jeff Wolfe and Lisa Volker of Fort Collins, CO

  • One grandson Pierce Wolfe of Fort Collins, CO

  • Two brothers: Kenneth Ballou of Burkesville, KY, and Wayne Ballou ofColumbia, KY

  • One sister Margie Anderson of Texas
She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Feyline McGaha,Eris Ehiling, Virgil Ballou, James E. Ballou, Estil Ballou, Almon Ballou,Carlos Ballou and Lamarr Ballou.

Cremation has been chosen
