Obituary: Roy Lee Flanagan, 87, Russell County, KY

He was a member of a large, well respected Russell Co., KY family. He was a retired custodian for the State of Ohio School System

Roy Lee Flanagan, 87, S. Main ST, Jamestown, KY, died Thursday, November 18, 2010, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon CT, Saturday, November 20, 2010, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. John Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10amCT, Saturday, November 20, 2010, until the time for the funeral at Bernard Funeral Home.



Roy Lee Flanagan, Russell Co., KY (1923-2010)

Roy Lee Flanagan was the son of the late Queen Victoria Edmonds Flanagan and Sylvannus Flanagan. He was born Monday, February 12, 1923, in Russell Co, KY. He died in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY, Thursday, November 18, 2010, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

He had worked as a custodian for the Ohio State School system prior to retirement.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ima Bernard Flanagan and by a son, Darrel Flanagan; two brothers, Mervin and Coy Flanagan, and four sisters, Angie Bernard, Opal Whittle, Margaret Hatfield, and Virgie Oakley.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two children: Gary Lee Flanagan, Thailand; and Harold Dean Flanagan, Jamestown, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Shelby Flanagan, Roy Dean Flanagan, Adam Flanagan, Shane Flanagan, and Michael Flanagan.

  • Three great grandchildren

  • One sister: Thelma Brown, Campbellsville, KY
