Obituary: Doris Rutledge Grinstead, 85, Glasgow, KY

Mrs. Rutledge, a native of Metcalfe Co., KY, was a bookkeeper for J.F. Pace Construction Co, a charter member of Quilting Friends of Glasgow, KY, a member of Kentucky Heritage Quilt Guild, and a member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was the mother of Rebecca Grant, Greensburg, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY

Doris Rutledge Grinstead, 85, of Glasgow, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at her home.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 2pmCT, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, 201 E. Washington ST, Glasgow, KY, with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 320 Cedar Grove RD, Glasgow, KY.. Visitation will be after 2pmCT, at the funeral home in Glasgow, KY.



Doris Rutledge Grinstead, Metcalfe Co., KY native (1925-2010)

She was born Saturday, May 16, 1925, in Metcalfe Co., KY. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Lottie Clemmons Rutledge. She died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at her home in Glasgow, Barren Co., KY, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

Mrs. Grinstead was a bookkeeper with J.F. Pace Construction Company and was a charter member of Quilting Friends of Glasgow and a member of the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Guild. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four children; Rebecca Grant and husband, Dr. Edward Grant of Greensburg, KY; Robert Grinstead and wife Brenda of Glasgow, KY; Stephen Grinstead and wife Susie of Wilmore, Anne Taylor and husband Lonnie of Glasgow, KY

  • Eight grandchildren : Michael McGuire, Corey McGuire, Sharon Gupton, Shannon Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Mariah Grinstead, Kaela Grinstead and Andrew Grinstead

  • Nine great-grandchildren : Jessica McGuire, Jena McGuire, Jack Gupton, Reagan Taylor, Reece Taylor, Cole Taylor, Layke Taylor, Tripp Taylor and Carlee Perkins

  • Brothers and sisters-in-law : James and Eula Grinstead of Glasgow, Malcolm and Jane Grinstead of Cynthiana, KY; Vera Guthrie of Bowling Green, KY

  • Special friends and neighbors : Gary and Shirley Crews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sewell Grinstead, a brother, Mitchell Rutledge and a grandson, Darrin McGuire.
