Obituary: Edith Ann Perkins, 89, Taylor Co., KY

She was a faithful member of the Eastside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Baptist Training Union classes and was a member of the choir and led the singing.

Edith Ann Perkins, age 89, of Campbellsville, KY died at 10:48amET, Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at 4pmET/3pmCT, Saturday, October 30, 2010 at theParrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV., Campbellsville, KYby Rev. Vic Stansbury & Rev. Earl Pike. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY.



Edith Ann Perkins, Taylor Co., KY (1920-2010)

Edith Ann Perkins of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Will P. Payne and Mary Riddle Payne, was born November 22, 1920, in Marion Co., KY. She died Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Campbellsville, Taylor Co., KY at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 25 days.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was very active in church work having taught Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School. She had also sung in the choir and led the singing.

She was a loving wife, mother, seamstress, and designer. She was a good neighbor seeing that flowers, food, cards and memorial Bibles were donated in times of sickness and death. She used her talents to help others and was loved by many.

She united in marriage to O. R. Perkins April 10, 1937. He preceded her in death April 23, 1986.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two sons and one daughter: James E. "Sonnie" Perkins and wife, Ocilla of Elk Horn, KY; William R. "Bill" Perkins of Campbellsville, KY, and Shirley Temple Caple and husband, Donnie of Plant City, FL
  • Ttwo grandsons: Norman Rocky Sprowles and Rex M. Perkins and wife, Margie, all of Campbellsville, KY

  • Step-granddaughter: Donna Caple of Florida

  • Four great-grandsons: Travis Perkins of Campbellsville, KY; Matthew Sprowles, Alan Michael Sprowles and Ryan Sprowles, all of Louisville, KY

  • Three brothers and one sister: Joe Payne of Lebanon, KY; Gerald Payne of Leitchfield, KY; Ronnie Payne of Calvert City, KY; and Helen Mattingly of Hammond, IN

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
  • She was preceded in death by five brothers: Howard Payne, Paul Payne, Lyle Payne, Chester Payne and Marion Payne.

    The Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
