Obituary: Rosie M. Gibson, 80, Metcalfe Co., KY

She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Metcalfe County family. She was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church

Rosie M. Gibson age 80 of Edmonton, KY, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow

' Funeral services will be held 1pmCT, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4pm-9pmCT, Wednesday, October 27, 2010, and after 9amCT, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late Lee and Fannie Compton Fields.

She was a homemaker and member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Welby Gibson, and the following:
  • Two children: Cathy Nunn of Edmonton, KY, and Gary Gibson of Louisville, KY

  • Two brothers: Elbert and Dewey Fields both of Edmonton, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Kyle and Kaleb Gibson of Louisville, KY, and Emily Hartman of Illinois

  • Nine great grandchildren
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Branstetter; two grandsons, Joe Reid and Charles Nunn; three brothers and one sister, Tom Fields, James Fields, Phillip Fields and Lizzie Kneller.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangments.
