Obituary: Joseph "Shug" Jessie, 77, Metcalfe Co., KY

He was a member of a respected North Metcalfe Co., KY family. He was a retired Kentucky State Highway Department employee and was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Joseph Shug Jessie age 77 of Knob Lick died Sunday, October 17, 2010 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.Funeral services will be held 1pmCT Wednesday at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the VanZant Cemetery.



He was the son of the late Roy andMinnie Ballard Jessie.

He was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church and retired from the state highway department.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Jessie of Knob Lick, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Steve (Bea) Jessie and Rondal (Vickie) Jessie all of Knob Lick, KY; and Roy (LaVetta) Jessie of Center, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Thirteen great grandchildren
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter Martha Firkins. One brother Homer Jessie and two sisters Madeline Clark and Christine Woodcock.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
