Obituary: Mr. Howard Hawkins, 79, Green Co., KY

He was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church, a lifelong farmer, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War

Mr. Howard Hawkins, 79, Summersville, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KYThe funeral services for Mr. Howard Hawkins were conducted at 12pm Noon CT, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial in the Jones Cemetery. Bro. Leslie Jewell officiated.



Pallbearers: Derek Hawkins, Bradley Hawkins, Joseph Bloyd, Eric Matney, Tim Dudley, A.J. Johnson, Todd Bradshaw, James Patton, Ray Patton, Jr., Gary Bloyd and Jim Jarbo.

Howard Hawkins, Green Co., KY (1931-2010)

Mr. Howard Hawkins of Summersville, Kentucky, was the son of the late Homer Hawkins and Mayme Thompson Hawkins. He was born on Monday, February 23, 1931 in Hodgenville, Larue Co., KY, died in Greensburg, Green Co., KY, at the age ofd 79 years, 7 months and 13 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ at the age of 13 and was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church. He was a lifelong farmer and a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army from 1951 thru 1953.

He united in marriage to Iris Bradshaw, who survives, on December 27, 1951.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Two sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Venita Hawkins of Buffalo, KY; and Walter and Viola Hawkins of Summersville, KY

  • Five grandchildren:

  • Two great-grandchildren

  • Four brothers-in-law and wives

  • One sister-in-law and husband

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, andother relatives and friends
Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

The Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
